Even though the war has ended (?) in Sri Lanka, the people living there are still in a state of fear to express freely their views or political comments. Particularly, in the case of the Tamils living in Jaffna confronted with increasing crimes and in search of some form of security for their life and property. Hence, some people out of ignorance express that the lifting of curfews and emergency laws has caused them these concerns and so welcome such military atmosphere.

In other words, their past 30 years of life under military conditions has caused them a mindset of choosing the same evil or a similar political set up to continue as their ideal. The local people say. Criminal acts increased following the 2010 Presidential Elections and the extension of Emergency Status.

On the other hand, The Tamils Diaspora too is in a state of uncertainty or mistrust to share their views freely is also obviously noticeable. The fear is about correctly identifying the political leanings of a person before casting own comments. The question is about whether the person next to you is LTTE or not is always at the back of one’s mind. The fear of being spied is filling the air as the entire Tamil Society is under a veil of network of surveillance. And this is the stubborn fact of the day.

Both in homeland and outside, it is impossible to see or prove beyond doubt the hard facts of this horrific situation faced by the Tamils everywhere. Added to this, the easy access to website services is a boon to mongers of irresponsible news and views. As a result even innocent enthusiasts in web who have it as a hobby are prone to be dragged into the net and endless troubles. In the pretext of destroying the Overseas Network of the LTTE such actions are rampant.

The anti LTTE elements in the past were content in calling the Tigers with various names without placing convincing views or place any political alternative. So, they let the Tamil Public free and unscathed. That is, although they did wrong, the public never endorsed nor cared a bit. So they were far away from the Main Stream Tamils, as nobody shared or cared what they said and did.  Even today there is no change in this.

If this situation prevails further, who can air the actual views of the Tamils?

Only uncertain and untrue news and views are and can fill the pages on the internet and the people have these as their only source of information. The people are in a state of worse confusion or completely distance themselves or misguided by misinformation. As a result very serious Historical Mistakes or Misadventures are taking place both at Home and Abroad.

Hence, it is the duty of every Responsible Individual to save the Society from this vicious Danger.

Every individual that had contributed to the political struggles of the Tamils can never ignore the call of the hour to undo the HORROR. For this, the creation of a “Centre for Tamileela History” (CTH), could be a good solution.

By researching the past and undoing the mistakes and exposing historical misgivings the confidence of the Tamil Public could be rebuilt. If this Centre emerges with sufficient funds and power to withstand this war of espionage, our people could be protected.

This Centre by investigating the past in Groups, by bringing out to people the true facts for verification and confirmation can record actual History of the Tamils. The members of these groups if selected from past politicians, LTTE members, Sympathizers and acceptable to all ranks , it could create a forceful impact on the Media and the Tamil public.
